Djokovic Equals Federer’s Wimbledon Record with Gritty Third-Round Victory

Novak Djokovic celebrates after defeating Arthur Rinderknech to equal Roger Federer's record of 105 men's singles wins at Wimbledon.

Novak Djokovic matched Roger Federer’s all-time record of 105 men’s singles victories at Wimbledon after overcoming a determined challenge from France’s Arthur Rinderknech to reach the fourth round of the 2026 Championships.

The seven-time Wimbledon champion was tested throughout the contest before prevailing 7-5, 6-4, 1-6, 7-6(4) on Centre Court. Although he dropped the third set and was pushed into a fourth-set tie-break, Djokovic relied on his experience and composure to seal victory in just over three hours.

The win sees the Serbian great equal Federer’s record for the most men’s singles match victories at the All England Club while also reaching the Wimbledon fourth round for the 18th time. Djokovic is chasing a record-equalling eighth Wimbledon title and an unprecedented 25th Grand Slam singles crown.

Rinderknech produced one of his finest Grand Slam performances, using his powerful serve and aggressive groundstrokes to unsettle Djokovic, particularly in the third set. However, the Serbian responded when it mattered most, dominating the decisive tie-break to secure his place in the last 16.

Djokovic will next face Russia’s Roman Safiullin as he looks to surpass Federer’s Wimbledon win record and continue his pursuit of another historic title at the grass-court Grand Slam.
