Experienced campaigner PV Sindhu and 17-year-old sensation Tanvi Sharma march into the quarterfinals with contrasting yet equally impressive victories in Sydney.

Indian badminton enjoyed another encouraging day at the Australian Open Super 500 as former world champion PV Sindhu and rising star Tanvi Sharma secured places in the women’s singles quarterfinals, strengthening India’s presence in the prestigious tournament.

While Sindhu continued her steady comeback journey with a composed performance against a lower-ranked opponent, it was teenage sensation Tanvi who once again grabbed headlines with her fearless brand of badminton.

Sindhu Finds Her Rhythm

Sindhu, a two-time Olympic medallist, looked increasingly confident as she progressed to the last eight. The Indian ace controlled the pace of the match with her powerful smashes and precise court coverage, ensuring she faced little trouble in advancing.

The victory marks another positive step for Sindhu, who has been striving to regain consistency on the international circuit after a challenging period affected by injuries and fluctuating form.

Tanvi’s Fairytale Run Continues

At just 17 years of age, Tanvi Sharma continues to announce herself on the world stage. After stunning higher-ranked opponents earlier in the tournament, the youngster produced another mature display to book her place in the quarterfinals.

What has stood out throughout Tanvi’s campaign is her composure under pressure. Despite facing experienced international players, she has shown remarkable confidence, attacking intent, and tactical awareness beyond her years.

Her run in Sydney is rapidly becoming one of the biggest breakthrough stories of the season for Indian badminton.

A Boost for Indian Badminton

The simultaneous progress of Sindhu and Tanvi represents both the present and future of Indian badminton. While Sindhu remains one of the country’s most accomplished athletes, Tanvi’s emergence offers fresh optimism for the next generation.

With both shuttlers now just two victories away from the title clash, Indian fans will be hoping the duo can continue their impressive momentum and bring further success on the BWF World Tour.

The Australian Open campaign further highlights India’s growing depth in women’s badminton.

What’s Next?

Both Sindhu and Tanvi will now compete in the quarterfinal stage, where tougher challenges await. A victory in the next round would move them within touching distance of a place in the final four of the tournament.
