Hearts Close In On Historic Scottish Premiership Title Triumph

Derek McInnes’ side hold three-point lead over Celtic with just three games remaining in dramatic title race

Heart of Midlothian are edging closer to a sensational Scottish Premiership title after opening a three-point gap over Celtic with only three matches left in the season.

Fans at Tynecastle Park are already preparing for what could become a historic title celebration when Hearts host Falkirk on Wednesday.

However, the title race remains finely balanced heading into another crucial weekend of fixtures.

Hearts travel to face Motherwell on Saturday knowing a victory would increase the pressure on Celtic before Sunday’s Old Firm clash against Rangers.

If Hearts extend their lead and Celtic fail to beat Rangers, Derek McInnes’ side could clinch a first top-flight title since 1960 with victory over Falkirk next week.

Motherwell Could Shape Title Outcome

Despite Hearts’ remarkable momentum, Fir Park presents one of the toughest away tests in the league this season.

Motherwell have lost only twice at home and boast the division’s best defensive record on their own ground, conceding just nine goals in 17 matches.

The sides have already shared several dramatic encounters this season. Motherwell threw away a three-goal lead in August before drawing at Tynecastle, while Hearts needed a late push to secure a 3-1 win in the reverse fixture last month.

With Motherwell also chasing European qualification, they could play a major role in deciding the destination of the league trophy.

A Hearts win on Saturday would leave Celtic with no margin for error heading into the Glasgow derby.

Celtic And Rangers Face Huge Old Firm Clash

Celtic have improved their form at a crucial stage, winning their last four Premiership matches as Martin O’Neill looks to guide the defending champions back into contention.

The return of influential right-back Alistair Johnston is expected to boost Celtic ahead of the derby.

Meanwhile, Rangers are effectively out of the title race after consecutive defeats to Motherwell and Hearts left them seven points behind the leaders.

The pressure is growing on manager Danny Rohl after criticism over recent tactical decisions.

Although Rangers’ championship hopes have faded, stopping Celtic’s comeback bid and securing second place remains a major objective for the Ibrox side.

Defeat on Sunday could leave Rangers facing a third-place finish for the first time since 2018, adding further tension to an already dramatic end to the Scottish Premiership season.
