Bernardo Silva will leave Manchester City at the end of the season when his contract expires, bringing an end to a remarkable era for the Portuguese midfielder.

The 31-year-old joined City from AS Monaco in 2017 and went on to become one of the club’s most influential players. During his time at the Etihad, Silva scored 76 goals and provided 77 assists in 451 appearances.

Glittering Trophy-Laden Career At Manchester City

Silva played a key role in one of the most successful periods in Manchester City’s history. He was part of the side that won the Premier League title with 100 points in the 2017–18 season and helped the club secure a historic domestic quadruple in 2018–19.

He was also a central figure in City’s treble-winning campaign in 2022–23, when the club lifted the UEFA Champions League for the first time. Overall, Silva leaves the club with 15 major trophies, including six Premier League titles.

Silva Reflects On Emotional Manchester City Exit

Speaking in a farewell message on Instagram, Silva said the memories created during his time at Manchester City would stay with him forever.

“What we won and achieved together is a legacy that will forever be cherished in my heart,” he wrote, referencing achievements such as the Centurions season, the domestic quadruple and the treble-winning campaign.

Silva also thanked the supporters for their constant backing, adding that he hopes fans felt proud of the passion he showed every time he stepped onto the pitch.

City Captain Leaves As Club Eyes Another Trophy

Silva was named club captain after Kevin De Bruyne stepped down from the role last season. The midfielder is currently among the top 10 in Manchester City’s all-time appearance list.

City are still competing for silverware this season and will face Southampton FC in the FA Cup semi-final on 25 April.

Before his departure, Silva urged supporters to continue backing the team, saying he believes the young squad can create many more memorable moments in the future.
