Salah’s Next Move: Saudi Arabia, MLS or Europe? Race Begins for Liverpool Icon

The football world is bracing for a major shift as Mohamed Salah prepares to leave Liverpool at the end of the season, ending a glittering nine-year spell at Anfield. With the Egyptian superstar set to become one of the most high-profile free agents in global football, speculation is intensifying over where he could head next.

Saudi Pro League Leads the Race

The most likely destination appears to be the Saudi Pro League, where financial muscle and global ambitions make the move highly attractive. Clubs such as Al-Hilal, Al-Ittihad, Al-Nassr and Al-Ahli are seen as potential suitors.

Saudi Arabia previously tested Liverpool’s resolve with a reported £150 million bid from Al-Ittihad in 2023. With Salah now available on a free transfer, interest is expected to intensify. The prospect of linking up in the same league as Cristiano Ronaldo would also boost the competition’s global appeal.

MLS Could Offer a New Chapter

Another intriguing possibility is a move to Major League Soccer, following the path taken by Lionel Messi. Teams like Inter Miami CF, already home to Messi, could explore a blockbuster deal under the league’s designated player rule.

MLS officials have openly welcomed the idea, viewing Salah as a transformative signing capable of boosting both commercial reach and on-field quality ahead of football’s growing popularity in North America.

European Giants Still in the Picture

Despite turning 33 this year, Salah still believes he can compete at the highest level. A stay in Europe remains possible, though only a handful of elite clubs could afford his wages. Names such as Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and FC Barcelona have been mentioned as potential destinations.

However, each option presents complications — from squad depth in attacking positions to evolving recruitment strategies — making a European switch less straightforward.

Decision Looms

Salah leaves Liverpool as one of the club’s greatest modern icons, with trophies, goals and unforgettable moments defining his legacy. His next move now promises to shape not only the final phase of his career but also the global football landscape.

Whether he opts for the riches of Saudi Arabia, the growing spotlight of MLS, or one last challenge in Europe, the race for Mohamed Salah has officially begun — and the football world is watching closely.
