Palace Criticised Over McNeil Transfer Collapse

Crystal Palace have come under heavy criticism after Dwight McNeil’s proposed move from Everton collapsed late on transfer deadline day.

The 26-year-old winger was set to join Palace on a loan-to-buy deal worth around £20 million, with a permanent transfer planned for the summer. He had completed his medical and agreed personal terms before the deadline.

However, despite Everton submitting their paperwork, the deal failed after Palace reportedly did not complete the required documents in time.

Partner Raises Mental Health Concerns
McNeil’s partner, Megan Sharpley, accused Palace of damaging the player’s mental wellbeing by failing to communicate properly.

In a social media post, she revealed that McNeil had been offered a four-and-a-half-year contract and that they had prepared to relocate before the move was suddenly cancelled.

She said the couple received “radio silence” from the club and described the experience as emotionally distressing and unfair.

McNeil Frustrated By Lack Of Communication
McNeil later shared his own disappointment, echoing concerns about the absence of explanation from Palace officials.

He said he was still “left in the dark” about what went wrong and expressed frustration over the way the situation was handled.

Despite the setback, he confirmed his commitment to Everton and said he would use the experience as motivation.

Everton Future Remains Uncertain
Since David Moyes replaced Sean Dyche, McNeil has struggled for regular game time, starting only seven league matches this season.

His limited role was a key factor behind the proposed move to Palace, where he hoped to revive his career.

Crystal Palace have yet to issue an official response regarding the failed transfer.
