Top Seeds Velavan Senthilkumar and Anahat Singh Cruise into Quarterfinals of HCL Squash Indian Tour 4

Chennai: In a commanding display at the HCL Squash Indian Tour 4, India’s top-seeded players, Velavan Senthilkumar and Anahat Singh — the reigning men’s and women’s national champions — advanced to the quarterfinal round following convincing victories on Tuesday.

Senthilkumar, ranked World No. 46, dismissed Sri Lanka’s Ravindu Laksiri in straight games 11-7, 11-8, 11-7. Meanwhile, teenage sensation Anahat Singh, world-ranked No. 29, overcame Czech Republic’s Tamara Holzbauerova with identical 11-7, 11-7, 11-7 scorelines. Both had received first-round byes.

The event — a USD 15,000 PSA Challenger tournament — features a mix of international and domestic contenders, raising the stakes for Indian participants aiming to consolidate form ahead of bigger events.

What This Means for Indian Squash

With top seeds like Senthilkumar and Anahat advancing, Indian squash continues to show strong domestic depth. Their smooth progress into the last eight underlines their status as serious contenders.

Also advancing to the quarterfinals: former women’s world No. 10 Joshna Chinappa, women’s sixth seed Tanvi Khanna, and men’s second seed Veer Chotrani among others.

Latest Update: Semifinals Line-Up Set, Four Indians in Final Four

As of 3 December 2025, four Indian players — including Joshna Chinappa — have moved into the semifinals of the event after hard-fought quarterfinals. Chinappa overcame Egyptian second seed Nardine Garas in a five-game thriller to make the last four.

The semi-final match-ups are now set. In the women’s draw, Chinappa will face compatriot Tanvi Khanna, while Anahat Singh remains a strong contender pending her semi-final fixture.

 Looking Ahead

With Indian players dominating the draw, anticipation builds that the final could be an all-Indian affair — a promising sign for the future of squash in the country. The remaining matches of the HCL Squash Indian Tour 4 promise intense competition.
