World Tennis League All Set for a Dazzling India Debut in Bengaluru This December

The World Tennis League (WTL) is officially stepping onto Indian soil—and it’s arriving with a bang. After three blockbuster seasons in the UAE, the globally celebrated ‘sportainment’ league will bring its electrifying mix of tennis, music, and festival energy to Bengaluru from December 17 to 20, marking one of the city’s biggest international sporting events in recent years.

The SM Krishna Tennis Stadium, operated by the Karnataka State Lawn Tennis Association, is being transformed into a pulsating arena where world-class sport meets live entertainment—an experience WTL has mastered and is now ready to unveil to Indian fans for the first time.

Global Icons Headline a Power-Packed Entry

This year’s lineup reads like a dream for tennis lovers. Leading the star parade are: Former World No. 1 Daniil Medvedev, Tennis’ ultimate showman Nick Kyrgios, Reigning Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina, and Former World No. 2 Paula Badosa.

Add to that the flair of Gael Monfils, the explosive talent of Arthur Fils, Poland’s dependable Magda Linette, Ukraine’s rising force Marta Kostyuk, and India’s evergreen warrior Rohan Bopanna—and Bengaluru is set for a tennis party like no other.

A Landmark Moment for Indian Tennis: Home Stars in the Spotlight

For the first time, WTL is giving India’s own rising stars a platform on par with global icons.

Yuki Bhambri, Ankita Raina, Shrivalli Bhamidipaty, Maaya Revathi, Dhakshineswar Suresh, and Shivika Burman will all step into the WTL arena—competing, learning, and showcasing their talent in front of a global audience.

This isn’t just participation. It’s recognition. And it’s a giant leap for Indian tennis.

Rybakina Ready for Her India Debut

World No. 5 Elena Rybakina, who will step onto an Indian court competitively for the first time, shared her excitement:

“I’ve heard so much about the tennis culture in India, and I’m thrilled to make my debut here with WTL. The league has an exciting format, and I’m ready to enjoy every moment on the court with my team.”

Her presence alone adds a Grand Slam aura to the event.

Mahesh Bhupathi: Bringing WTL Home

For WTL co-founder and Indian legend Mahesh Bhupathi, this debut feels personal.

“India has always shared a deep and lasting connection with tennis, and the WTL’s arrival here is an opportunity to strengthen that bond,” he said.

He believes the fast-paced, mixed-format league will resonate deeply with young Indian players and fans: “When you put international champions and India’s top talent on the same court, you create inspiration. You also show the world that tennis can be intense, global, and full of possibility.”
