Indian batters with 1000-plus Women’s ODI runs against England

Both Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana completed the milestone of 1000 WODI runs against England.

India Women batting stalwarts Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana achieved massive milestones with the bat in Match 20 of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 clash against England. Both players went on to surpass 1000 Women’s ODI runs against England. They have joined the legendary Mithali Raj in terms of this record.

The match held in Indore saw England score 288/8 in 50 overs. Heather Knight hammered a superb 109. Amy Jones also struck a crucial half-century. In response, India rallied back with Kaur and Mandhana as the duo added 125 runs for the 3rd wicket. However, their efforts went in vain as England hung on to claim a 4-wicket win and qualify for the semi-finals of the World Cup.

Harmanpreet and Mandhana shine against England

Harmanpreet walked in when India were 43/2 after 10 overs in what was a cautious start. With Mandhana starting on a patient note, Harmanpreet relieved the pressure by being proactive and starting strongly, The duo then thwarted England by building a superb stand, They maintained a good tempo once set. England skipper Nat Sciver-Brunt broke the stand by dismissing Harmanpreet in the 31at over, who scored a 70-ball 70. Mandhana continued the good work and added another 67-run stand with Deepti Sharma. However, she fell agonisingly short of a hundred. She was dismissed for 88 by Linsey Smith. This was the turning point as India surrendered from a position of comfort.

Both players join Mithali in terms of 1000-plus runs against England Women

As per ESPNcricinfo, playing her 28th WODI against England, Kaur, who scored 70, surpassed 1,000 runs. She has got to 1025 runs at an average of 46.59. This was her 6th fifty against England Women. She also owns three hundreds.

Mandhana, who managed a solid 88 from 94 balls, has amassed 1030 runs against England Women from 21 WODIs. She averages 51.50, bringing up her 9th fifty.

Former captain and legend Mithali Raj owns the most runs against England Women in the 50-over format for India. In 59 matches against England, she scored 2005 runs at 48.90. She hit 20 fifties against ENG-W with the best of 98.
