Noah Lyles Anchors USA to 4x100m Gold; Botswana Makes History with 4x400m Triumph at Tokyo 2025

Bhubaneswar: World Athletics Championships Tokyo 2025 closed on a thrilling note as Noah Lyles anchored the USA men’s 4x100m relay team to gold in a world-leading 37.29 seconds. The U.S. quartet, including Christian Coleman, Kenny Bednarek, and Courtney Lindsey, delivered smooth baton exchanges that Lyles praised, saying, “They made my job easy.” This win marked Lyles’ third medal of the championships, having already claimed gold in the 200m and bronze in the 100m.

The biggest story of the day came from Botswana, which scripted history by becoming the first African nation to win the men’s 4x400m relay. Running in heavy rain, Botswana clinched gold in a staggering 2:57.76, edging out the USA by just 0.07 seconds. Led by the 400m individual champion Collen Kebinatshipi, Botswana’s victory broke new ground on the global athletics stage.

Meanwhile, the USA women’s 4x400m relay team also secured gold, powered by anchor Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone. The championships ended with the USA dominating the medal tally with 16 gold medals and 26 overall.

These races highlighted not only extraordinary speed and skill but also historic milestones, making Tokyo 2025 an unforgettable chapter in athletics history.
