22-year-old men’s singles tennis ace, Carlos Alcaraz, has reached the 2025 US Open final. The Spaniard humbled 38-year-old veteran Novak Djokovic 6-4, 7-6, 6-2 in straight sets at Arthur Ashe Stadium. In this absorbing two-hour and 25-minute contest, the Spaniard turned out to be too good for Djokovic. The winner between Jannik Sinner and Felix Auger-Aliassime will face Alcaraz in the summit clash.

Interestingly, Alcaraz has reached his 7th career men’s singles Grand Slam final. He owns a 5-1 record in Slam finals and is chasing his 6th crown. Alcaraz, who won the 2022 US Open title, is chasing his 2nd honour here at the Flushing Meadows. Spaniard Alcaraz also reached his 3rd successive Grand Slam final in 2025. He won the French Open before losing the summit clash at Wimbledon.

As per Opta, Alcaraz is now the 3rd-youngest player to reach 7 men’s singles finals at Grand Slam events during the Open Era. He is only behind the likes of Bjorn Borg and Rafael Nadal.

Nadal achieved the mark when he reached the 2008 Wimbledon final. He was aged 22 years and 20 days when he defeated Rainer Schüttler in the semis. Nadal won the Wimbledon that year after defeating Roger Federer in a 5-set thriller. He was 5-2 from his first 7 Slam finals.

Meanwhile, Bjorg was also aged 22 years and 20 days when he reached his 7th final at Grand Slams. He beat Tom Okker in straight sets to reach the Wimbledon final in 1978. Bjorg won the Wimbledon crown that year. Notably, Bjorg was 6-1 in Grand Slam finals after winning that year.

Youngest players to reach 7 Grand Slam finals (men’s singles) in Open Era
  • Rafael Nadal: 22 years and 20 days
  • Bjorn Borg: 22 years and 20 days
  • Carlos Alcaraz: 22 years and 111 days
  • Matt Willander: 22 years and 276 days
