India U17 Draw 1-1 With Myanmar in First Friendly

The India U17 men’s football team showed strong fighting spirit to secure a 1-1 draw against Myanmar in their first international friendly in Thanlyin. The Blue Colts came from behind after Myanmar took the lead late in the first half.

Dallalmuon Gangte scored India’s equaliser from the penalty spot in the second half. The result gives head coach Mehrajuddin Wadoo another useful opportunity to assess his squad ahead of the upcoming Asian Cup qualifiers.

India U17 Fight Back Against Myanmar

The India U17 men started the match with plenty of energy and looked to take control of the game. Myanmar, however, remained organised and created opportunities as both teams searched for an early advantage.

India goalkeeper Maroof Shafi was particularly effective in the opening stages. He controlled his penalty area well and prevented Myanmar’s attackers from creating clear opportunities.

Myanmar U17 Take the Lead

Myanmar eventually broke the deadlock in the 42nd minute through Aung Myat Thar. His first attempt was blocked by India’s Abhishek Kumar Mondal, but the ball fell back to the Myanmar striker.

Myat Thar then fired a low right-footed shot that went through the legs of goalkeeper Shafi. Myanmar entered half-time with a 1-0 advantage despite India having shown promising attacking intent.

India U17 Improve After Half-Time

The India U17 team returned for the second half with greater urgency. The Blue Colts pushed forward more regularly and began putting the Myanmar defence under sustained pressure.

Captain Dallalmuon Gangte played an important role in India’s attacking moves. He helped control the midfield, switched play towards both flanks and created opportunities for his teammates.

Gangte Scores the India U17 Equaliser

India continued to search for a way back into the India vs Myanmar friendly. Gangte had earlier seen a couple of attempts blocked before finally getting his opportunity inside the penalty area.

In the 72nd minute, Gangte was brought down by Htoo Lwin Han. The India captain stepped up to take the penalty and calmly placed his effort to the goalkeeper’s right, making it 1-1.

Blue Colts Push for a Winner

The equaliser gave the Blue Colts additional momentum in the closing stages. India continued attacking and looked capable of completing the comeback with a second goal.

However, Myanmar’s defence remained disciplined and resisted India’s late pressure. Despite dominating the latter stages, India could not find the winning goal.

India U17 Show Strong Character

The draw was a positive sign for an India U17 side preparing for an important qualification campaign. Coming from behind against a competitive Myanmar team gave the young players valuable experience.

The match also allowed coach Mehrajuddin Wadoo to test his players against international opposition away from home. These matches can help the squad identify areas that need improvement before the competitive fixtures begin.

India U17 Prepare for Asian Cup Qualifiers

The India U17 men are preparing for the AFC U17 Asian Cup Uzbekistan 2027 Qualifiers. India have been placed in Group E alongside Malaysia, Palestine, Singapore and Guam.

The qualifiers are scheduled to take place in Kuala Lumpur from November 11 to 20. The two friendly matches against Myanmar form an important part of India’s preparation for that tournament.

Myanmar Provides a Useful Test

Myanmar are also a familiar opponent for the India U17 team. The two sides previously met in friendly matches in Yangon in March 2026.

India won the first encounter 2-1, while the second match ended in a goalless draw. The latest 1-1 result shows that the rivalry between the two young sides remains closely contested.

Second India vs Myanmar Friendly

The India vs Myanmar series will continue with another friendly at the same venue. The second match is scheduled to be played at StarCity Sports Club in Thanlyin on Wednesday.

For Wadoo, the fixture will provide another opportunity to evaluate his players and make tactical adjustments. India will also hope to turn their attacking pressure into more goals in the next game.

The India U17 men’s team showed character to come from behind and draw 1-1 with Myanmar in the first friendly. Aung Myat Thar gave the hosts the lead before Dallalmuon Gangte restored parity from the penalty spot.

The result provides useful preparation for the Asian Cup qualifiers later this year. With another friendly against Myanmar ahead, the Blue Colts have another chance to build confidence and sharpen their game before the competitive campaign begins.
