India Men Retain Asian Games Kabaddi Gold With Win Over Iran

India’s men’s kabaddi team retained its title at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games 2026, defeating Iran 40-34 in a closely contested final in Nagoya on Saturday.

The Indian team held its nerve in a tense encounter to secure another gold medal, extending its dominance in the sport after reclaiming the title at the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games.

India Overcome Iran In Tense Kabaddi Final

The men’s final was a closely fought contest, with both teams trading points throughout the match.

The scores were tied at 20-20 at one stage before India gradually gained the upper hand and pulled away to secure a 40-34 victory.

The win marked another successful title defence for the Indian men’s kabaddi team, which had reclaimed the Asian Games crown in Hangzhou in 2023.

India Secure Ninth Asian Games Kabaddi Gold

India’s latest triumph marked their ninth gold medal in kabaddi at the Asian Games.

The Indian men had won seven consecutive gold medals before their dominance was interrupted at the 2018 Jakarta Games, where Iran emerged champions and India finished fourth.

India bounced back in 2023 to reclaim the title and have now successfully defended their crown at the 2026 edition.

The victory in Nagoya further strengthened India’s record in Asian Games kabaddi.
