Kane And Bellingham Power England’s World Cup Charge

Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham have combined for 10 of England's 11 goals at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, emerging as the driving force behind Thomas Tuchel's title challenge.

Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham are rapidly becoming England’s defining partnership at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with the star duo carrying Thomas Tuchel’s side into the quarter-finals through a blend of leadership, composure and relentless attacking quality.

England’s dramatic 3-2 victory over Mexico in the last 16 once again highlighted their growing influence. Bellingham struck twice in the opening minutes before Kane calmly converted the decisive penalty after England were reduced to 10 men following Jarell Quansah’s dismissal.

Their celebrations after Bellingham’s opener — standing together with arms outstretched in front of the travelling England supporters — have already become one of the tournament’s most memorable images.

With a quarter-final against Erling Haaland’s Norway looming, England’s hopes of lifting the World Cup increasingly rest on the shoulders of their two biggest stars.

Kane And Bellingham Driving England’s Attack

England’s attacking numbers underline just how influential the pair have been throughout the tournament.

Kane has scored six goals, while Bellingham has added four, accounting for 10 of England’s 11 goals at the World Cup. Marcus Rashford remains the only other England player to find the net after scoring against Croatia in the group stage.

Together, the pair have contributed 90.9 per cent of England’s goals — the highest combined share of any remaining team in the competition.

Their influence extends beyond finishing chances.

Kane has generated 34.6 per cent of England’s expected goals (xG), with Bellingham contributing another 20.3 per cent. Combined, they are responsible for more than half of England’s total attacking threat.

The Bayern Munich striker has attempted nearly a quarter of England’s shots and almost one-third of their efforts on target, while Bellingham continues to arrive in dangerous positions from midfield, contributing more than 28 per cent of England’s shots on target.

Rather than relying on a single talisman, England have built an attack around a partnership capable of creating and finishing opportunities together.

A Partnership Built On Trust And Leadership

The connection between Kane and Bellingham extends well beyond their performances on the pitch.

Despite an age gap of almost 10 years, both have become central figures within England’s leadership group.

Kane, now one of England’s most experienced internationals, has embraced Bellingham’s emergence as a leader, while the Real Madrid midfielder has frequently spoken about the captain’s support throughout his international career.

Their understanding is equally evident during matches.

Bellingham’s intelligent movement often creates space for Kane, while the England captain continues to demonstrate his unselfish side by creating opportunities for his younger teammate.

Their celebrations have also reflected that growing bond, with both regularly recreating Bellingham’s trademark arms-outstretched pose after goals.

England Hoping History Ends Differently

England have previously relied heavily on attacking partnerships during successful tournament runs.

At the 1990 FIFA World Cup, Gary Lineker and David Platt scored seven of England’s eight goals before the team exited in the semi-finals.

A similar pattern emerged at Euro 1996, where Alan Shearer and Teddy Sheringham combined for seven of England’s eight goals before another heartbreaking semi-final defeat on penalties.

Tuchel will hope this generation can finally go one step further.

Norway await in the quarter-finals, with Haaland posing England’s next major challenge.

If Kane and Bellingham continue producing at their current level, England’s dream of ending decades of World Cup disappointment may remain firmly alive.
