Indian dressage rider Anush Agarwalla continued his impressive European campaign by clinching the silver medal in the CDI1 Prix St. Georges event at the Cavalliero Dressage Days in Hagen, Germany, adding another milestone to his growing international resume.
Competing with his trusted horse, Straight Horse Floriana, Agarwalla delivered an elegant and consistent performance to score 70.147%, finishing second among a strong field of 22 riders. Crossing the coveted 70 per cent mark once again underlined the Indian rider’s growing stature on the global dressage circuit.
The podium finish is another significant achievement for the Kolkata-born equestrian, who has enjoyed a string of strong performances in Europe this season. His partnership with Floriana has been instrumental in producing consistently high scores, further cementing his reputation as one of India’s finest dressage athletes.
The silver medal also comes at a crucial juncture for Agarwalla, who is currently involved in a legal battle over his selection status for the upcoming Asian Games. Despite being India’s top-ranked dressage rider and one of Asia’s leading competitors, he was named only as a reserve in the provisional squad.
Questioning the selection process, Agarwalla has approached the Delhi High Court, seeking greater transparency and a review of the selection criteria. He has maintained that his performances and international rankings justify a place in the main squad.
Currently ranked India’s No. 1 dressage rider, Asia No. 2 and World No. 14 in the FEI 1* rankings, Agarwalla believes his recent results reinforce his credentials ahead of the continental showpiece.
With another podium finish in Europe, the Indian equestrian has once again demonstrated his ability to compete with the world’s best, strengthening his case as he continues his pursuit of success on both the international circuit and the road to the Asian Games.
