Indian shooting star Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar has reaffirmed his ambition to help India reach the pinnacle of world shooting as he gears up for the 2026 Asian Games, saying his primary focus is on bringing glory to the country on the continental stage.
Tomar, one of India’s most accomplished rifle shooters, has emerged as a key member of the 30-member Indian shooting squad selected for the Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. The Madhya Pradesh marksman will once again shoulder significant expectations following a string of impressive performances in recent years.
Speaking ahead of the Games, the Arjuna Award-winning shooter emphasised that representing India remains his biggest motivation. Tomar said his aim is not just to win medals but to help elevate Indian shooting to greater heights through consistent performances at the highest level.
The 25-year-old enters the competition in strong form. Earlier this year, he captured gold in the men’s 50m rifle three positions event at the Asian Shooting Championships, where he also set a world record, further cementing his status as one of the leading rifle shooters in international competition.
Tomar’s achievements include medals at World Cups, World Championships and Asian-level events, making him one of India’s most reliable performers in rifle shooting. His success at major competitions has helped establish him as a strong medal prospect for the upcoming Asian Games.
India’s shooting contingent will head to Japan with high expectations after delivering strong performances on the international circuit. With experienced names and emerging talents in the squad, the country is aiming for another successful campaign in one of its strongest sporting disciplines.
For Tomar, however, the objective remains straightforward: continue improving, remain focused on the process and contribute to India’s success. As preparations intensify for the Asian Games, the rifle shooter believes hard work and consistency will be crucial in achieving the ultimate goal of placing India among the world’s elite shooting nations.
