Rugby fans face a hefty price tag for the best seats at next year’s World Cup final in Sydney, with category one tickets hitting A$1,950 – that’s over £1,000 for the first time in the tournament’s history.
Organisers say the premium pricing helps keep more than a million tickets accessible under A$100 (£53), with child tickets as low as A$20. The strategy mirrors other major events, balancing high-end sales with broad accessibility. No dynamic pricing here – it’s fixed from the start.
Compared to previous finals, it’s a jump: France 2023’s top ticket was around £823, Japan 2019 £717. Early demand is high, especially for Ireland’s pool games. Over 750,000 tickets already sold in pre-sale, with the current window closing on 2 June and ballots for oversubscribed matches.
Managing director Chris Stanley defended the approach: “To make it accessible, you have to charge more at the top end.” The 2027 tournament in Australia promises spectacle, but fans will need to dig deeper for those prime views at Stadium Australia on 13 November.
Whether you’re chasing the final or pool-stage thrills, it’s shaping up to be an expensive but unforgettable campaign Down Under.
