Former Indian cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar has said that the main objective behind the SRT10 Altevol Centre of Excellence Sports Academy in Ahmedabad is to transform India from a sports-loving nation into a sports-playing nation.
Speaking during the inauguration of the academy in Ahmedabad, Tendulkar highlighted the importance of creating quality infrastructure and equal opportunities for young athletes across different sports disciplines.
The SRT10 Altevol Centre of Excellence Sports Academy is backed by Tendulkar along with Altevol and is the second such centre in the country after the SRT10 Global Academy at the DY Patil Sports Centre in Navi Mumbai.
Tendulkar praised the participation of both boys and girls at the academy and stressed that grassroots development remains the key to building a stronger sporting culture in India. He also said coaches carry the responsibility of guiding youngsters and helping them channelise their energy positively.
During his interaction with young aspirants, Tendulkar advised budding cricketers to focus on discipline, preparation and hard work instead of looking for shortcuts. He said talent alone does not guarantee success and that dedication plays the most important role in achieving long-term goals.
The batting legend further urged parents to avoid putting excessive pressure on children and instead encourage them with freedom and patience. According to Tendulkar, failure is an important part of learning and growth in sport.
The academy in Ahmedabad is expected to focus heavily on grassroots talent development with modern coaching techniques, advanced facilities and mentorship from experienced former cricketers.
