Casper Ruud has returned to the ATP Top 20 following a strong campaign at the Italian Open, as the prestigious clay-court tournament triggered major movement in the latest world rankings ahead of the French Open.
The Norwegian climbed eight places to World No. 17 after reaching the final in Rome, where he eventually lost to Jannik Sinner. Ruud’s impressive run helped him bounce back after briefly slipping outside the Top 20 earlier this month for the first time in several years.
Ruud enjoyed a dominant week in the Italian capital, dropping just one set en route to the final and once again underlining his reputation as one of the strongest clay-court players on tour. The Rome campaign also secured him a valuable Top-16 seeding heading into Roland Garros.
Meanwhile, Sinner’s title-winning performance completed a historic “Career Golden Masters” feat, making him only the second player in history after Novak Djokovic to win all nine ATP Masters 1000 titles.
The latest ATP rankings reshuffle has added further intrigue ahead of the French Open, with several players gaining momentum after standout performances during the clay season.
