Michael Carrick Set To Become Permanent Manchester United Manager After Remarkable Turnaround
Manchester United have reached an agreement with Michael Carrick to become the club鈥檚 permanent head coach following an impressive spell in interim charge.
The formal contract process is under way, with an official announcement expected within the next 48 hours. Carrick is set to sign an initial two-year contract with the option of an additional 12 months.
The club are hopeful the deal can be completed before Sunday鈥檚 Premier League clash against Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford.
Carrick rewarded after dramatic revival
Carrick has transformed United鈥檚 season since replacing Ruben Amorim in January. The 44-year-old has won 10 of his 15 Premier League matches and guided the club back into Champions League qualification contention.
United can finish third in the league table if they avoid defeat against Forest in their final home game of the campaign.
The club鈥檚 leadership group, including chief executive Omar Berrada and director of football Jason Wilcox, reportedly recommended Carrick鈥檚 appointment to owners Ineos after being impressed with the team鈥檚 progress under his leadership.
Former midfielder wins over dressing room
Carrick initially arrived as a short-term solution after Amorim鈥檚 departure, but consistent performances quickly changed the club鈥檚 thinking.
Important victories over rivals including Arsenal, Chelsea, Brentford and Liverpool strengthened his case to remain in charge permanently.
Several senior players, including Bruno Fernandes, Amad Diallo, Kobbie Mainoo and Casemiro, are also believed to have backed Carrick to continue as manager.
The former United midfielder previously worked as assistant coach under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer before beginning his managerial career at Middlesbrough.
