Virat Kohli reminded everyone exactly why he’s still the King of chases. Bouncing back from two consecutive ducks, the RCB star smashed a magnificent century against Kolkata Knight Riders, powering his team to a comfortable six-wicket win.
True to his word, Krunal Pandya was waiting with the perfect reaction.
Just days earlier, after RCB’s win over Mumbai Indians, Krunal had confidently backed his superstar teammate in the post-match press conference. “Virat Kohli is a champion player,” he said. “When he fails for two games, I get more excited because I know he will come back. He’s a different beast.”
He wasn’t wrong.
After Kohli’s match-winning knock in Raipur, Krunal posted a lovely picture of the two of them on Instagram, both flashing the ‘100’ sign with their hands. The caption? A simple, confident “I told you so” followed by a cold-face emoji and a crown.
The photo and message instantly went viral among cricket fans, perfectly capturing the camaraderie and belief within the RCB camp.
Kohli’s knock wasn’t just any hundred. He became the fastest player to reach 14,000 T20 runs, the first Indian with 10 T20 centuries, and joined Jos Buttler with three IPL hundreds in successful run chases. With 484 runs in 12 matches, he’s now third in the Orange Cap race, striking at a blistering 165+.
On the field, RCB restricted KKR to 192/4 despite a fighting knock from Angkrish Raghuvanshi (71*) and Rinku Singh (49*). Virat then took charge in the chase, sharing a crucial stand with Devdutt Padikkal before finishing the job with plenty to spare.
The win takes RCB back to the top of the table, while KKR’s playoff hopes just got a lot more complicated.
