Rangers head coach Danny Rohl says he has received full backing from the club’s board despite the team’s recent collapse in the Scottish Premiership title race.
Rangers have now suffered three consecutive league defeats and are guaranteed to finish third behind Heart of Midlothian and Celtic. The poor run has also ended their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League and intensified criticism from sections of the support.
Rohl, who replaced Russell Martin in October, had initially overseen a strong turnaround at Ibrox. Rangers reduced a 13-point gap to Hearts earlier this season before their form dipped dramatically during the split fixtures.
The 37-year-old has also been linked with Bundesliga side VfL Wolfsburg, but he insisted he remains fully committed to Rangers and expects to stay at the club next season.
“Yesterday and over the last 48 hours, there was unbelievable support from the board,” Rohl said.
“Everyone around me sees a lot of positive things, but we are also critical of ourselves. I think there’s no question mark.”
Rangers Prepare For Another Squad Overhaul
Rangers are expected to undergo another significant rebuild this summer after a disappointing campaign without silverware.
Club captain James Tavernier is set to leave after more than a decade at Ibrox, while several loan players are also expected to depart.
Rohl admitted the squad lacks enough leaders and said recruitment discussions with the board have already intensified following recent defeats.
“We need new leaders, more leaders for the dressing room, to set our standards on the training pitch and in difficult moments in games,” he explained.
“I’m very clear, especially after the last three weeks, what we need to become top, top, top.”
The German coach believes the upcoming transfer window offers Rangers a major opportunity to reshape the squad and build a stronger mentality heading into next season.
