India’s Young Boxers Pack A Punch in Asian U-15 & U-17 Championships

India’s next generation of pugilists continued to impress at the Asian U-15 & U-17 Boxing Championships 2026 in Tashkent, delivering a string of commanding performances across categories.

The Indian contingent showcased depth and confidence, registering multiple victories against strong international opponents and reinforcing the country’s growing stature in youth boxing.

U-15 Boxers Lead the Charge

In the U-15 boys’ division, Nongpoknganba Meitei Oina (46kg) produced a clinical display to secure a unanimous 5:0 win over Kazakhstan’s Abdurakhman Vushanlo. Parshant (49kg) matched that dominance with an identical 5:0 victory against Bakdaulet Akhmet.

Other standout performers included Mohd Yasser, who sealed a bout via first-round stoppage, and Nivesh Pal, who registered a convincing win—highlighting India’s strong bench strength at the junior level.

U-17 Fighters Show Power and Precision

In the U-17 category, India’s boxers continued their winning momentum. Lakshay Phogat (75kg) stood out with a dominant first-round stoppage win, showcasing attacking flair and technical sharpness.

Yadav Yash (50kg) and Karuna Albertson Kom (60kg) also delivered commanding performances, securing clear victories over opponents from Turkmenistan and Tajikistan respectively.

Girls’ Category Adds to the Momentum

India’s young women boxers also made their mark. Khushi Rana and Hanshika Attri recorded emphatic wins in the U-15 girls’ section, underlining the balanced strength of the Indian squad across genders.

A Promising Future

The performances in Tashkent reflect a broader trend—India’s youth boxing program is steadily producing technically sound and fearless fighters capable of competing at the continental level.

With consistent wins, early stoppages, and disciplined ring control, these young athletes are not just winning bouts—they are signaling a strong future for Indian boxing on the global stage.
