BANGKOK: Indian archers delivered a strong showing at the Asia Cup World Ranking Tournament Stage 1, clinching two bronze medals while also advancing to the finals in two team events on Wednesday.
The men’s and women’s teams put up impressive performances across categories, with the men’s recurve and women’s compound teams booking their spots in the finals. The women’s compound trio of Chikitha Taniparthi, Raj Kaur and Tejal Salve edged past Thailand in a closely fought semifinal to move into the gold medal clash, marking an improvement from their bronze finish in the previous edition.
India, however, faced disappointment in the men’s compound event. Despite dominating the qualification round and occupying the top spots, the experienced trio of Rajat Chauhan, Rishabh Yadav and Uday Kamboj fell short in the semifinal, losing narrowly to Vietnam by a single point and settling for bronze.
Overall, the results reflected a mixed yet promising outing for India, with podium finishes combined with strong runs into the finals underlining the team’s depth and potential at the continental level.
