Cardiac screening, including EKG testing
Ophthalmologic examinations
CSAC Executive Director Andy Foster has indicated that the bout will only be sanctioned if both athletes pass all required medical protocols without concern.
A Legacy Matchup
The matchup carries historic weight. Rousey was the first woman signed by the UFC and became its inaugural women’s bantamweight champion, helping drive mainstream acceptance of female MMA. Her armbar victories and unbeaten streak early in her career established her as one of the sport’s most recognisable figures.
Carano, meanwhile, was one of the earliest faces of women’s MMA, competing in major promotions before the UFC introduced female divisions. Her influence helped lay the groundwork for the growth that fighters like Rousey would later capitalise on.
