Carlos Alcaraz produced a defining performance to defeat Novak Djokovic in the Australian Open 2026 final, claiming his maiden Melbourne title and rewriting tennis history.
The Spanish star recovered after losing the opening set to secure a 2-6, 6-2, 6-3, 7-5 victory over the 10-time Australian Open champion, showcasing resilience, power, and composure on the biggest stage. With the win, Alcaraz became the youngest male player ever to complete a Career Grand Slam, breaking an 88-year-old record previously held by Don Budge.
Djokovic, who was chasing a record 25th Grand Slam title and aiming to become the oldest men’s major champion in the Open Era, started strongly but struggled to contain Alcaraz’s intensity as the match progressed.
“This is a dream come true. Winning the Australian Open and completing the Grand Slam means everything to me,” Alcaraz said after sealing the title, celebrating a milestone moment in his young career.
The victory marks Alcaraz’s seventh Grand Slam title and signals a clear shift in men’s tennis, as the new generation continues to challenge the sport’s established legends.
