Sports fans worldwide can register from Wednesday for a chance to buy tickets for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, with prices starting at $28 (£20.80). Registration opens at 07:00 local time (15:00 GMT) and will remain open until 18 March. Selected fans will receive email notifications and time slots in April to purchase tickets through a random draw system.
Affordable tickets for all
According to LA 2028 officials, around one million tickets will be sold at $28, while nearly one-third of all tickets will cost under $100 (£74.41). LA 2028 chairman Casey Wasserman said, “These Games belong to everyone. These Games have to be affordable and inclusive.” Officials added that accessibility was a key focus while designing the ticketing plan.
How the ticket draw works
Fans must register using their name, email and zip code to enter the random draw. Those selected will be given time slots between 9 and 19 April to buy tickets. However, officials clarified that a time slot does not guarantee availability. LA28 chief Allison Katz-Mayfield said, “The random draw is the fairest way to ensure the broadest access to tickets.”
Venues and historic return
The 2028 Games mark the first Olympics in the US since Atlanta 1996. Los Angeles, which previously hosted in 1932 and 1984, will use existing infrastructure. Most events will take place across southern California, while canoeing and softball will be held in Oklahoma. The LA Memorial Coliseum will co-host the opening ceremony and athletics events.
