The New York Knicks created history on Tuesday night by winning their first-ever NBA Cup title, rallying strongly in the second half to defeat the San Antonio Spurs 124–113 in the championship clash.
After trailing for long periods, the Knicks turned the game around with a dominant fourth-quarter display, outscoring the Spurs 35–19 to seal the title at T-Mobile Arena. The victory marks New York’s first major silverware since their NBA championship triumph in 1973.
OG Anunoby led the scoring with 28 points, while Jalen Brunson delivered a composed performance with 25 points and was later named the NBA Cup MVP. Karl-Anthony Towns recorded a 16-point, 11-rebound double-double despite briefly leaving the court due to a calf issue.
Mitchell Robinson played a decisive role inside, pulling down 15 rebounds, including 10 offensive boards, as the Knicks dominated the paint and second-chance points. New York finished with a 56–44 edge in points in the paint, which proved decisive.
San Antonio showed resilience, with Dylan Harper scoring 21 points, Victor Wembanyama adding 18, and De’Aaron Fox contributing 16. The Spurs led for much of the contest before a late third-quarter surge from New York swung momentum permanently.
The win does not affect regular-season standings, with both teams remaining 18–7 at the top of their respective divisions. Knicks players also earned a significant bonus for winning the NBA Cup, adding further incentive to the historic night.
The Knicks will travel to Indiana next, while the Spurs return home to face Washington in their upcoming fixtures.
