Coventry City manager Frank Lampard has been named the Championship’s Manager of the Month for November, securing the award for the second successive time. The Sky Blues collected five wins from five last month, a run that kept them five points clear at the top of the table. Lampard said the recognition reflected the work done across the club, adding: “We got some fantastic results throughout November and I want to thank the players, staff and everyone involved. There is great togetherness here as we head into a busy Christmas period.”
Birmingham City’s Chris Davies, Southampton’s Tonda Eckert and Derby County’s John Eustace were also on the shortlist.
Simms Adds Player Honour To Coventry’s Clean Sweep
Coventry completed a double as striker Ellis Simms was named the Championship’s Player of the Month. The 24-year-old scored five goals in three starts during November, including braces against Middlesbrough and Charlton, taking his season tally to eight across all competitions. “This was only possible because of my team-mates and the staff pushing standards every day,” Simms said. “Individual awards come from team performances, and the results we’ve had make this extra special.”
Simms beat Derby’s Carlton Morris, Hull City’s Joe Gelhardt and Birmingham full-back Alex Cochrane to the award.
