Steve Smith owns a tally of 3417 Test runs against England at 56.01. He needs only 83 runs to become the 3rd batsman in Ashes history with 3500-plus runs. Sir Don Bradman (5028) and Jack Hobbs (3636) owns over 3500 runs in The Ashes.
7th England batter with this Ashes tally
Joe Root owns the 2nd-most number of runs in Test cricket (13543). As many as 2428 of his runs have come against Australia. He is 72 shy of the 2500-run mark. If he achieves the same, Root will become only the 7th England player with this feat. On his way, he will go past several Englishmen, including Alastair Cook (2493).
Head and Smith eye runs milestone
Travis Head is closing in on the 4000-run mark in Tests. He owns 3963 runs and needs 37 more to attain the landmark. On the other hand, Smith has scored 10477 runs and needs 23 more to reach a mark of 10500. He will become only the 4th Aussie with this record.
The Ashes: Australia eyeing 100th win on home soil
In terms of the H2H record, Australia and England have met each other on 185 occasions in Australia. The hosts have gone on to pick 99 wins besides losing 57. A total of 29 matches have been drawn. So a win here in Perth will hand them their 100th.
