Matthew Breetzke owns the most runs after first 5 ODI innings

South Africa batter Matthew Breetzke entered record books after becoming the first batter with 400-plus runs from the first 5 ODI innings. Breetzke smashed 85 runs in the 2nd ODI against England at Lord’s to get to a tally of 463 runs from the 1st 5 ODI innings.

Breetzke helped South Africa get to 330/8. This is South Africa’s 2nd-highest team total on English soil. Thereafter, South Africa restricted England to 325/9 to win the match by 5 runs and take a 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

How did South Africa’s innings pan out?
Aiden Markram and Ryan Rickelton (35) looked solid in the middle before the latter perished to Jofra Archer. England then reduced South Africa to 93/3 with Temba Bavuma and Markram (49) getting dismissed. A 147-run stand for the 4th wicket between Matthew Breetzke and Tristan Stubbs helped SA steady the ship.
Breetzke scored 85 runs whereas Stubbs scored an important 58. Both batters perished in quick intervals, leaving SA at 259/5. Pivotal knock from Dewald Brevis and Corbin Bosch then helped the visitors get to 330/8. For England, Jofra Archer was terrific. He claimed 4/62 from 10 overs. Adil Rashid picked 2/33 from 10 overs.
463 runs after his 5 ODIs

Breetzke’s 85-run knock consisted of 7 fours and three sixes from 77 balls. Across 5 ODIs, the batter has scored 463 runs at 92.60. He registered his 4th ODI fifty (100s: 1). Breetzke’s strike rate is a solid 110.39.

As per Cricbuzz, Breetzke owns the most runs among batters after their 1st 5 ODI innings.
