Anahat Singh’s Smash Season: India’s Teen Squash Queen Storms Into History

Bhubaneswar : At just 17, Anahat Singh has become a sensation in Indian squash, blasting her way into the semi-finals of the National Squash Championships and racking up a string of historic feats this season.

Relentless Winning Form

Anahat’s 2025 campaign has been nothing short of breathtaking. Despite carrying a right ankle injury from her final at the NSW Squash Bega Open in Australia, she delivered a clinical performance in Delhi, defeating her quarter-final opponent in straight games and securing a semi-final berth. Her unmatched focus and resilience have made her a standout not only in national events but also on the global squash stage.

Breaking Records and Building Legacy

The Delhi prodigy’s rise has been rapid and relentless. Earlier this year, Anahat Singh clinched a bronze medal at the World Junior Championships in Cairo, Egypt, ending India’s 15-year drought in the women’s singles event at the junior worlds—a feat last achieved by Dipika Pallikal in 2010. She also became the first Indian woman to reach a PSA World Tour Copper level final at the NSW Open, proving her ability to compete with the circuit’s best while still in her teens.

Championing Change

With a total of 9 championships wins from 11 tournaments this season, Anahat has cemented her status as India’s number one women’s squash player, currently ranked world No. 56. Her winning streak, national title defences, and victories over seasoned professionals are inspiring a new generation of athletes in a sport still striving for mainstream status in India. Notably, she was honored with the PSA Women’s Challenger Player of the Season and shared the Women’s Young Player title with Egypt’s Amina Orfi.

Eyes on the Future

Anahat’s grit and gameplan are already turning heads on the global stage. Her goal: to keep raising Indian squash’s profile, chase greater world rankings, and prepare for squash’s Olympic debut at the 2028 Los Angeles Games. With immense talent and unshakeable determination, Anahat is not just winning matches—she’s rewriting what Indian squash can aspire to.
