Abu Dhabi, UAE – Shabab Al Ahli’s prolific Iranian striker, Sardar Azmoun, was awarded the prestigious Golden Ball for Best Player at the UAE Pro League’s dazzling awards ceremony held in Abu Dhabi on Saturday. Azmoun beat out strong contenders Mehdi Ghayedi of Kalba and Caio Lucas of Sharjah to claim the top individual honor of the 2024-2025 season.
Azmoun’s Impactful Season Leads to League Title
Azmoun, who joined Shabab Al Ahli from Italian giants Roma, was instrumental in his Dubai-based club securing their ninth league title earlier this year. His 11 goals were crucial as Shabab Al Ahli finished the season atop the table with 63 points from 23 matches. Sharjah finished second with 51 points, while Al Wahda took third place with 48 points.
Expressing his gratitude on Instagram, Azmoun wrote: “I’m truly grateful to receive this award. - Golden Glove (Best Goalkeeper): Hamad Almeqbaali (Shabab Al Ahli), ahead of Ali Khaseif (Al Jazira) and Adel Alhosani (Sharjah).
- Leader Award (Best Coach): Paulo Sousa (Shabab Al Ahli), surpassing Milos Milojevic (Al Wasl) and Cosmin Olăroiu (Sharjah).
- Golden Boy (Best Player U23): Guilherme Da Silva (Shabab Al Ahli), ahead of Siaka Sidibe (Al Wasl) and Brahima Diarra (Al Wahda).
