Bhubaneswar : Radhika Yadav was a 25-year-old state-level tennis player from Haryana, known for her achievements in women’s doubles. She was ranked 113th in the International Tennis Federation (ITF) doubles and held a top 5 ranking in Haryana for women’s doubles. Radhika was recognized as a rising talent in Indian tennis, having earned international points and competed alongside other prominent players.
On the morning of July 10, 2025, Radhika was shot dead by her father at their residence in Gurugram, Sector 57 (Sushant Lok Phase 2). The incident reportedly stemmed from a dispute over a social media reel that Radhika had posted. According to police, her father, upset over her frequent social media activity, fired multiple rounds at her with his licensed revolver—three bullets struck her. Despite being rushed to a private hospital, she succumbed to her injuries.
Police have arrested her father and recovered the weapon used in the crime. Investigations are ongoing, including a forensic examination and a psychological assessment of the accused. Radhika’s former coach and the local sports community have expressed deep shock and described her as focused, disciplined, and immensely talented—a significant loss to Indian tennis.
