India’s young badminton star Ayush Shetty has won his maiden BWF World Tour title at the US Open Super 300 tournament. He defeated Canada’s Brian Yang in straight games, 21-18, 21-13, to lift the trophy and bring home India’s first World Tour title of the season.
Shetty showed great skill and calmness throughout the match. In the first game, he took an early lead with powerful smashes and sharp net shots. Although Yang tried to fight back, Shetty kept control and secured the opening game. In the second game, he quickly pulled ahead and never looked back, finishing the match confidently.This victory is a big moment for the 20-year-old from Karnataka. Shetty has been training at the Prakash Padukone Academy in Bengaluru and has steadily climbed the international rankings. He had already made headlines by beating top seed Chou Tien-Chen in the semifinals.Besides Shetty’s triumph, India also celebrated a strong performance from 16-year-old Tanvi Sharma, who became the youngest Indian to reach a World Tour final. She finished runner-up in women’s singles after a hard-fought match against Beiwen Zhang of the USA.
With this title, Ayush Shetty has proved he is one of India’s most promising players. He now looks ahead to more tournaments, confident in his ability to compete with the world’s best.
