APAKA Clinches 13 Medals at National Karate Championship: Arunachal’s Young Warriors Shine Bright

Arunachal Pradesh’s young karatekas have brought home a wave of pride and glory. At the 4th KIO National Sub-Junior, Cadets, and Junior Karate Championship held in Haridwar, Uttarakhand, the Arunachal Pradesh Amateur Karate Do Association (APAKA) team delivered a knockout performance—bagging an impressive 13 medals in total.

The medal tally stood at 2 gold, 6 silver, and 5 bronze, a testament to the state’s growing presence in the national martial arts scene. Each podium finish came after intense bouts against some of the most skilled competitors from across the country.

Champions in the Making

The two gold medals were won with power-packed precision and fearless spirit, marking the athletes as potential stars of Indian karate in the years to come. The six silver and five bronze medals also reflect how close many others came to the top spot, narrowly edged out but showing tremendous grit and promise.

What stood out most wasn’t just the number of medals but the discipline, confidence, and technical maturity that these young athletes displayed—something coaches and officials from across the nation took notice of.

A Rising Force in Indian Karate

APAKA’s consistent medal-winning performances over recent years point to something bigger than just individual brilliance. It’s about a system that is beginning to bear fruit. With dedicated coaches, strong leadership, and support at the grassroots level, Arunachal Pradesh is fast becoming a serious contender in the national martial arts map.

The Association’s general secretary, Sensei S. Deben Sharma, credited the athletes’ hard work and their families’ support, noting that many of these youngsters train under challenging conditions yet continue to push limits.

Backed by Encouragement

The achievement did not go unnoticed by the state’s leaders either. Messages of congratulations poured in, including from Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, who took to social media to laud the fighters and encourage continued investment in sports development.

For a state tucked in India’s northeast, where access to top-tier facilities has often been limited, this result serves as powerful inspiration. It’s a story of young dreams, quiet determination, and the belief that even from small towns, champions can rise.

The Road Ahead

As these young karatekas return home with their medals, their journey is far from over. With the right support, exposure, and continued focus, they could soon be representing India on international platforms—be it the Asian Championships, Commonwealth Games, or even the Olympics.

For now, Arunachal can celebrate a moment of sporting pride—13 medals, and countless stories of courage, discipline and dreams taking flight.
