Maja Stark Claims First U.S. Victory at US Women’s Open

Sweden’s Maja Stark finally broke through on American soil, capturing her maiden professional win in the U.S. by clinching the US Women’s Ope title at Erin Hills, Wisconsin.

Composed Finish Seals Major Glory

Stark, 25, fired an even-par 72 in the final round to finish at 7-under 281, securing a two-shot victory at the second major of the year. Holding a one-stroke lead going into the final day, she held off a late push from World No. 1 Nelly Korda, who eventually faded on the back nine.

Key Moments Down the Stretch

Korda made a move with a 2-under front nine, closing the gap to one. But Stark responded with a clutch birdie on the 11th, followed by a two-putt birdie on the 14th. Despite bogeys at the tough final two holes, she had enough cushion to seal the win.

European Tour Star Shines in the U.S.

Stark now adds a seventh professional title to her name, with six already on the Ladies European Tour. Her win at the 2022 ISPS Handa World Invitational earned her LPGA status—but this is her first outright LPGA Tour win in the U.S.
