WRIST SPRAIN MANAGEMENT

Any wrist injuries should be managed with an Ice pack , Immobilise in a wrist splint and should be consulted with an orthopaedic or sports surgeon.
An X- ray is required , sometimes the xray may not show any fracture line in case of a ligament injury.
So after proper rest, immobilisation for few weeks if there is still no sign of improvement an MRI is required to know the exact pathology.
EXERCISES:
Exercises for wrist to be done for 10 times in a day and each exercises hold should be for 10 seconds.
1. Wrist isometrics – Performed in neutral range resisting flexion, extension, Ulnar deviation & radial deviation.




2. Wrist closed chain – To provide proprioceptive feedback 4 ways




3. Wrist open chain 1 – Active and resisted movements into flexion, extension & radial deviation (not ulnar side).



4. Wrist Open chain 2 – active & resisted supination and pronation


5. Grip Strength
