ISSUE 10 | JANUARY EDITION

Happy New Year Readers,

I welcome you all to the 10th edition of Fanzine – the road, so far has been arduous, yet exciting. The Year 2022 was replete with challenges, in a post Covid era. However, humanity has a unique trait to adapt, whatsoever the situation may be, and whatever life throws at us! This time again, during the last 12 months, after 2 years of gloom, our society resurrected! The year 2022 showed us just how resilient the human spirit is and how robust our ability is to get things done. It was replete with problems of acceptance and adaptation to the norms of the Covid-induced new normal. But, overcoming such challenges of the unseen and the untested, Sports Science India—an organisation that aims at creating awareness on sports and sports medicine—came up with its monthly magazine, Sports Science India Fanzine. A first-of-its-kind publication, Fanzine was launched with the objective of promoting a healthy sports culture in the country. And, I am happy to inform that we have already taken the nascent yet confident step towards attainting the same objective. It had been an eventful year for Fanzine with multiple collaborations from across the globe. At Fanzine, 2023 was also welcomed with equal zeal and a strong commitment to the cause. The first edition of 2023 (January) focuses on the inspirational story of one of India’s greatest goalkeepers and Goa’s football legend, Brahmanand Sankhwalkar. It also brings to you an informative article on athletic hernia. Performance Coach of Kerala Blasters—an Indian professional football club—Werner Martens shares his experience with us in this edition, besides many more useful insights into sports medicine and injury prevention. As we begin 2023 with this powerpacked edition, hope to keep providing our readers with many more useful articles round the year.
