Boy Band Battle on the Fairway? NSYNC vs. Backstreet Boys — Who Will Swing to Victory

Las Vegas : For decades, they battled on music charts. Now, they’re taking the rivalry to the greens. The Backstreet Boys and NSYNC — two pop culture giants of the late ’90s and early 2000s — are preparing for an unforgettable five-on-five celebrity golf showdown that promises nostalgia, laughs, and maybe even a few surprisingly good shots.

How It All Started

The spark came at Pebble Beach, where Backstreet Boys members Brian Littrell and Nick Carter threw down the gauntlet. Littrell, confident with his impressive 6.8 handicap, said it was time for a “Boy Band Mania Golf Tournament.” Carter doubled down:

“We’re challenging NSYNC right now to a five-on-five!”

NSYNC’s Answer — Game On!

In true pop-star fashion, NSYNC’s Lance Bass fired back with a bold and playful:

“Of course, bring it!”

While Bass admitted his own skills (and Joey Fatone’s) might not earn tour cards anytime soon, he hinted at their ace-in-the-hole — Justin Timberlake, a polished single-digit handicap golfer who’s rumored to be deadly on the course.

The Line-Up (So Far)

Backstreet Boys:

Brian Littrell – 6.8 handicap

Nick Carter – 19 handicap

Other members TBD

NSYNC:

Justin Timberlake – single-digit handicap, the team’s star golfer

Lance Bass – golf underdog with a competitive streak

Joey Fatone – bringing humor as well as hustle

Why Vegas Could Be Perfect

There’s talk of staging the match at the Wynn Golf Club in Las Vegas with the dazzling Sphere as a backdrop. Even Bryan Zuriff, producer of The Match (the famed celebrity golf broadcast), has shown interest in turning it into a televised pop-meets-sports spectacle.

Not Just About Bragging Rights

Both bands are eyeing this as a charity opportunity, reminiscent of NSYNC’s beloved “Challenge for the Children” basketball games. Expect friendly trash talk, unexpected talent, and a wave of pure pop nostalgia.

Why Fans Are Excited:

’90s nostalgia with a fresh twist

Real sports action instead of lip-sync battles

Bragging rights on the line for two legendary bands

A likely charitable cause at the heart of it

As Littrell said : “We’ve done world tours. We’ve topped charts. But now… it’s time to see who rules the fairway.”
