Bhubaneswar : After a brief spell as India’s national football coach, Manolo Marquez is back at the helm of FC Goa. The Spanish tactician, who led FC Goa to an ISL Super Cup win and a second-place league finish last season, has signed a new one-year deal to guide the Gaurs for the 2025–26 campaign. His return sees him reunited with FC Goa after mutually ending his national duties, where results were below expectations.
Building on Past Success
Marquez’s previous run with FC Goa was marked by a strong emphasis on teamwork and player development. The club’s management lauded his high standards, work ethic, and positive results. Keeping his trusted assistants, Benito Montalvo and Marc Gamon, Marquez aims to bring stability and championship mentality back to Goa, focusing on both domestic and Asian competitions.
Eyes on AFC Champions League 2
The immediate challenge for Marquez and FC Goa will be the AFC Champions League 2 qualifier against Al Seeb Club in August 2025. With familiar faces on his bench and a confident squad, Marquez is determined to carry forward his successful philosophy, aiming to make an impact not only in India but on the Asian stageas well.
