Asian Para Archery Championships: Harvinder Singh’s Double Gold Propels India to Second Place

Beijing, China – Harvinder Singh, the world number one and reigning Paralympics champion, led India to a strong second-place finish at the Beijing 2025 Asian Para Archery Championships. Singh secured two gold medals, completing a hat-trick of podium finishes and powering India to a total of three gold, three silver, and three bronze medals. Host nation China topped the standings with a dominant 10 gold, four silver, and three bronze medals.

Harvinder Singh’s Golden Performance

Harvinder Singh had an exceptional tournament. He not only shot a personal best and set a new competition record of 663 points in the recurve men’s qualifying round, but he also clinched two gold medals. His first gold came in the recurve open mixed team event, where he partnered with Bhawna to defeat China’s Zihan Gao and Jun Gan 5-4 (14-8) in a dramatic shoot-off. On the final day, Singh secured his second gold by winning the recurve men’s open title, outclassing Thailand’s Hanreuchai Netsiri 7-1.

Other Medal Winners for India

India’s third gold medal was secured in the compound women’s team event by Sheetal Devi and Jyoti, who narrowly beat China’s Lu Zhang and Jing Zhao 148-143.

In the silver medal events:

  • Harvinder Singh and Vivek Chikara took silver in the recurve men’s open doubles, losing a close shoot-off to China.
  • Rakesh Kumar and Shyam Sunder Swami earned silver in the compound men’s open doubles, after a last-end surge by the Chinese team.
  • Rakesh Kumar and Jyoti also secured silver in the compound open mixed team event.

India’s bronze medalists included:

  • Pooja and Bhawna in the recurve women’s open doubles.
  • Naveen Dalal and Nurudin in the men’s W1 doubles, winning a thrilling shoot-off.

Jyoti, who added a bronze in the compound women’s open category.
