Jaiswal Named In Mumbai Squad For Ranji Opener
India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has been included in Mumbai鈥檚 16-member squad for their Ranji Trophy opener against Chandigarh, while young batter Ayush Mhatre has been appointed vice-captain.
The 42-time champions will take on Chandigarh from October 11 to 15 and are expected to begin their campaign at the Wankhede Stadium.
Mumbai and Chandigarh are part of Elite Group D alongside Haryana, Rajasthan, Railways, Tamil Nadu and Uttarakhand.
Sarfaraz, Mulani Also Included
The squad also includes India batter Sarfaraz Khan, who was part of the Rest of India side that defeated Jammu and Kashmir in the Irani Cup.
All-rounder Shams Mulani has also been named after helping India A beat Australia A 1-0 in their two-match unofficial Test series.
Mhatre, who captained India to the Under-19 World Cup title earlier this year, will serve as Mumbai’s vice-captain.
Former Mumbai captain and India all-rounder Shardul Thakur will miss the opener due to injury.

Siddhesh Lad (captain), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ayush Mhatre (vice-captain), Divyansh Saxena, Musheer Khan, Sarfaraz Khan, Suved Parkar, Aakash Anand (wicketkeeper), Hardik Tamore (wicketkeeper), Shams Mulani, Tanush Kotian, Atharva Ankolekar, Tushar Deshpande, Mohit Awasthi, Sylvester Dsouza, Onkar Tarmale.
Mumbai will begin their Ranji Trophy campaign with a strong squad featuring Jaiswal, Sarfaraz and several players with India and India A experience.
