The India vs Bangladesh Asian Games 2026 Hockey clash ended in another emphatic victory for the defending champions, with India cruising to a 10-0 win in their final Pool A match at Kakamigahara. Despite heavy rain and a waterlogged pitch, India maintained their attacking rhythm to finish the group stage with five wins from five matches. The victory also set up a blockbuster semifinal against Pakistan on October 1.
India had already secured a semifinal place before the match, but the team finished the pool stage in style. Across victories over Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Japan, South Korea and Bangladesh, India scored freely and finished with an impressive +45 goal difference. Malaysia and South Korea will contest the other semifinal.

The match began 30 minutes late after heavy rain disrupted the preceding Pakistan-Oman fixture. Once play started, India needed only three minutes to break through.
Abhishek received the ball from Sanjay inside the circle, shifted to his left and fired his trademark reverse hit beyond the Bangladesh goalkeeper. India led 1-0, although Bangladesh briefly threatened from a penalty corner in the 12th minute. Goalkeeper Suraj Karkera dealt with the danger from Amirul Islam’s drag-flick.
The rain became heavier during the second quarter, making ball movement increasingly difficult. India nevertheless doubled the advantage in the 22nd minute. A penalty corner eventually became a penalty stroke after Jugraj Singh’s drag-flick struck the foot of a defender on the post. Jugraj converted to make it 2-0.

Harmanpreet struck again in the 40th minute after Vivek Sagar Prasad created another penalty-corner opportunity. Two quick goals from Shilanand Lakra in the 44th and 45th minutes pushed India to 7-0.
Harmanpreet then completed his hat-trick in the 45th minute, converting another penalty corner as India ended the third quarter 8-0 ahead.

The worsening rain made the final quarter particularly difficult, but India still added two more goals.
Sanjay scored from a penalty corner in the 59th minute, before Mandeep Singh completed the scoring in the 60th minute after reacting quickest to a rebound.
India therefore finished with a 10-0 scoreline, while Bangladesh were unable to find a way past the Indian defence.
The goalscorers for India were Abhishek, Jugraj Singh, Harmanpreet Singh (3), Sukhjeet Singh, Shilanand Lakra (2), Sanjay and Mandeep Singh.

India now turn their attention to Pakistan in the semifinal on October 1. The meeting comes shortly after India’s 5-3 victory over Pakistan at the 2026 FIH Hockey World Cup in August.
The defending champions will enter the semifinal unbeaten, with five wins, 45 goals in the positive and another opportunity to move closer to retaining their Asian Games title.
