Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday congratulated Paralympics medallist Sheetal Devi after the para archer won gold at the World Archery Para Series Stage III, calling her achievement a proud moment for the entire nation.

The 19-year-old from Kishtwar district in Jammu region clinched the women’s compound individual title in Ahmedabad earlier this week, adding another major achievement to her growing international record.

Omar Abdullah Praises Sheetal Devi

The Chief Minister’s Office said Abdullah congratulated Sheetal Devi on winning the gold medal at the World Archery Para Series 2026, Stage III.

“He said her remarkable achievement of winning Gold in the Women’s Compound Individual Event and Bronze in the Compound Mixed Team Event is a proud moment for the entire nation, and wished her continued success in all her future endeavours,” the CMO said in a post on X.

Sheetal also secured a bronze medal in the compound mixed team event, further strengthening India’s medal tally at the World Archery Para Series.

Sheetal Devi Claims Gold In Ahmedabad

The world number one and reigning world champion produced a composed performance in the women’s compound individual final against Kazakhstan’s Aizada Seidan.

Sheetal prevailed in a closely fought contest to secure the gold medal and continue her impressive run on the international para archery circuit.

Her latest World Archery Para Series gold adds to the list of notable achievements for the young archer, who has emerged as one of India’s leading para-sport athletes.

The achievement has also drawn praise from her home state, with Omar Abdullah highlighting Sheetal Devi’s success as a source of pride for Jammu and Kashmir as well as the country.
