The Athletics Federation of India (AFI) has announced a revised schedule for the Indian Athletics Series, keeping in mind promising athletes who were unable to secure spots in the teams for the upcoming Glasgow Commonwealth Games and Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.
AFI President Bahadur Singh Sagoo confirmed that while the venues remain unchanged, several legs have been shifted:
- 13th Leg: Moved from August 14 to August 18
- 14th Leg: Postponed by nine days from August 16 to August 25
- 15th Leg: Rescheduled from August 29 to September 2
- Final Leg: Advanced from September 12 to September 10 (by invitation, based on rankings; Asian Games-bound athletes will also compete)
The changes aim to provide more competition opportunities for domestic athletes in their home environment. The 65th National Inter State Senior Athletics Championships recently concluded in Bhubaneswar, and Indian athletes have begun departing for European training camps ahead of the Commonwealth Games starting July 23 in Scotland.
