Over 80 Surfers from Six States Set for Indian Open of Surfing 2026 in Mangalore
More than 80 surfers from six states will compete in the Indian Open of Surfing 2026, set to take place at Sasihithlu Beach in Mangalore from May 30 to June 1. The championship is expected to bring together some of the country鈥檚 best surfing talent in a major boost for adventure sports in India.
Organised by the Surfing Swami Foundation in association with the Surfing Federation of India, the event will feature competitions across multiple categories, including men鈥檚 and women鈥檚 open divisions, groms and paddleboard events.
Surfers from Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Goa are expected to participate in the three-day competition, which has steadily grown into India鈥檚 flagship surfing event over the years.
The Indian Open of Surfing has played a crucial role in promoting the sport nationally and providing a platform for young athletes to showcase their talent on the competitive circuit. Several top-ranked Indian surfers are likely to use the tournament as preparation for upcoming international competitions.
The scenic Sasihithlu Beach, known for its strong waves and surfing-friendly conditions, has become one of India鈥檚 most recognised surfing destinations. The venue has previously hosted several national and international surfing events.
