Sindhu, Lakshya, Satwik-Chirag and Tanisha-Dhruv Storm into Singapore Open Quarterfinals
India enjoyed another strong day at the Singapore Open 2026 as P. V. Sindhu, Lakshya Sen, the men鈥檚 doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, along with mixed doubles duo Tanisha Crasto and Dhruv Kapila advanced to the quarterfinals with commanding performances on Thursday.
Sindhu continued her excellent form in the tournament with a clinical straight-games victory over Japan鈥檚 Riko Gunji. The two-time Olympic medallist dominated the contest from the outset, securing a comfortable 21-9, 21-12 win in just 37 minutes to book her place in the last eight.
Lakshya Sen also progressed after Thailand鈥檚 Kunlavut Vitidsarn retired midway through their Round of 16 clash, with the Indian shuttler leading early in the opening game. Lakshya will now face Japan鈥檚 Koki Watanabe in the quarterfinals.
In men鈥檚 doubles, Satwik and Chirag survived a tough three-game battle against Chinese Taipei鈥檚 Lee Jhe-Huei and Yang Po-Hsuan. The Indian pair won 21-15, 11-21, 21-18 to continue their impressive campaign at the Super 750 event.
The mixed doubles pair of Tanisha Crasto and Dhruv Kapila produced one of the standout comebacks of the tournament. After losing the opening game heavily against Japan鈥檚 Yuta Watanabe and Maya Taguchi, the Indian duo bounced back strongly to win 8-21, 21-17, 21-16 and move into the quarterfinals.
India鈥檚 strong performances in Singapore underline the growing depth in the country鈥檚 badminton circuit, with multiple players and doubles combinations making deep runs in major international tournaments.
