Prince William joined Aston Villa’s celebrations after their historic Europa League final victory, even sharing beers with the players following the match in Istanbul.
The Prince of Wales, a lifelong Aston Villa supporter, watched from the stands as Villa defeated Freiburg 3-0 to win their first European trophy since 1982. Goals from Youri Tielemans, Emiliano Buendia and Morgan Rogers sealed the memorable night at Besiktas Park.
Prince William joins dressing room celebrations
Defender Matty Cash revealed that Prince William visited the dressing room both before and after the final.
“He was in there having a beer with us. He’s such a big supporter,” Cash said.
Villa captain John McGinn also praised the prince’s support, describing him as “just a normal guy”.
Prince William later posted on social media congratulating the players, staff and supporters, while also mentioning injured midfielder Boubacar Kamara for his contribution during the campaign.
The victory sparked huge celebrations among Villa supporters in Istanbul and across Birmingham, with thousands expected to attend the club’s trophy parade.

Prince William has regularly spoken about his connection with Aston Villa. During his school years, he chose Villa because he did not want to support the same clubs as everyone else.
