India Thrash Lebanon 4-0 in U-17 Women’s Asian Cup, Boost Historic Quarterfinal Hopes

The Indian U-17 Women’s team produced a commanding performance as they thrashed Lebanon 4-0 in their final Group B match of the AFC U-17 Women’s Asian Cup 2026 in Suzhou, China. The convincing victory has significantly strengthened India’s chances of advancing to the quarterfinals for the first time in history.

Match Summary and Goal Scorers

India got off to a strong start and maintained control throughout the match. The goals came from:

  • Pritika Barman (scored twice)
  • Alva Devi Senjam
  • Joya Joya

The Young Tigresses showed excellent attacking fluency and defensive solidity, completely outplaying their opponents and securing a clean sheet in the process.

Path to Quarterfinals

After earlier losses to strong teams Australia and Japan, India entered the Lebanon clash knowing a big win was essential. The 4-0 victory has improved their goal difference substantially, positioning them favourably among the best third-placed teams. They now await other group results to confirm their progression to the knockout stage.

Historic Opportunity for Indian Football

This result marks a significant step forward for Indian women’s youth football. Reaching the quarterfinals of the AFC U-17 Women’s Asian Cup would be a historic achievement and a major boost for the sport’s development in the country.

The team has shown marked improvement in organisation, attacking intent, and finishing — qualities that will be crucial if they advance further in the tournament.
